Traditionally, sandbags have been used in streams to create a dry working area. When the water flow is blocked by the dam, the water level rises, and a pump is required to ‘over-pump’ the water downstream, past the dam. With the Water-Gate, an overflow diverter tunnel can be used which replaces the need for over-pumping. The overflow pipe clips onto the top of the barrier allowing the water to be channelled downstream.
The overflow pipe has a max flow capacity of 90 litres per second (5400 litres per minute).
The kit consists of two main parts: the overflow diverter and the main tunnel.
Replaces Over-pumping
The Overflow Diverter is made of incredibly tough and hardwearing polyethylene. The black portion is funnel shaped to siphon off and drain excess water behind the Water-Gate. The yellow sliding float inside the diverter is intended to stabilise it, and allow the water flow to be adjusted. It is recommended to weigh the diverter down with a couple of ballast bags on top of the diverter to maximise the flow and improve stability.

The main tunnel connects to the overflow diverter and can be used to channel water downstream.
The main tunnel comes with rugged handles every 1.5m (5ft) for easier handling. The tunnel is 22.7m (75ft) long.
The complete kit includes both the Overflow Diverter and Main Tunnel: Code DA1200. Diverter tunnel benefits include:
“I thought the Water-Gate coupled with the Overflow Diverter was excellent. I was very impressed with how easy the Water-Gate was to deploy, which resulted in our desilting project being carried out swiftly”
