Flood Barriers for Harrogate Borough Council

Flood Protection Solutions Ltd were instructed by Harrogate Borough Council to measure, supply, and install flood barriers to 4 properties as part of a Property Flood Resilience scheme to help reduce flood risk in the area.

The properties in question had sadly been flooded the previous year and were using sandbags which had rapidly deteriorated leaving a mess which could be harbouring bacteria.

As part of the installation, ground strips were installed where necessary to ensure a flat and even base for a perfect seal. At the rear of the properties, the steps were widened to allow fitment of a face fix flood barrier.

The front doors were abutted by porches, which were structurally assessed by the Council first to ensure they were suitable for the installation of flood barriers. The porches were also sealed to minimise ingress.

All tenants were trained on how to successfully deploy the barriers, and provided with a handover pack. The systems were very well received, and we look forward to further projects with the Council.
